Child Protection Reports

Social workers assess each call that the ministry receives. If there is a safety concern then the ministry focuses on protecting the child(ren).

3 The Vancouver/Richmond Service Deliver Area houses the ministry's 24/7 Centralized Screening Team. This team handles protection reports from across the province. The total count of new protection reports includes 13,960 protection reports that were safely dealt with by Centralized Screening. These calls are reflected in Vancouver/Richmond but these calls come from all over the province.

In 2022/23, more than 48,000 protection reports were made, involving approximately 54,000 children and youth.
